ASAP received a $4,400 grant from Variety—the Children’s Charity to fund ASAP’s art supply kits for the new digital programs. The Variety grant will be used to purchase supplies needed for ASAP studios in the Fall 2020 session. To comply with pandemic safety recommendations, studio supplies are not being shared among groups of students this fall, but are packaged into individual kits, meaning many more supplies are needed than in a typical ASAP session. A unique feature of the new virtual program line, those individual supply kits and provided for students whether they are learning at home or at school in small groups. Each kit has everything the student needs to participate fully in the ASAP studio, from paint palettes and brushes, to yarn and looms, scissors, glue, crayons, markers, oil pastels, water cups, paper towels, and much, much more. “Variety’s support is crucial to getting ASAP off the ground this fall and to connecting the arts with the kids who need them most—especially now. We will have a lot of happy kids thanks to Variety—the Children’s Charity,” said ASAP Executive Director Michelle Bolton King. Variety—the Children’s Charity is dedicated to improving the lives of children who are at-risk, underprivileged, critically ill, or living with special needs. Grant funding is provided to programs and initiatives that directly impact the well-being of children. For more information on Variety grants and programs, please visit varietyiowa.com.
